Our Service
We offer a professional assessment of your existing equestrian surface to ensure the most effective and economical refurbishment possible—always aiming to meet your expectations and stay within your budget.
With over 20 years of experience in the equine surfaces industry, our team is widely respected for our deep expertise in all-weather equine surface engineering. Our superior technical knowledge ensures that every refurbishment is approached with precision and care.
Following an initial discussion, we typically ask customers to send images of their existing surface. We also request that a few small inspection holes be dug with a hand trowel down to the membrane, to reveal the surface profile. Based on this initial assessment, we will then provide guide costs. If these are within reach, we’re happy to arrange a site visit to offer tailored advice on how to proceed with your refurbishment.
Clients receive professionally written recommendations including specifications, material quantities, and estimated costs – providing a clear, actionable plan for surface renewal.

Below are some examples of our surface refurbishment projects.

Fibre Incorporation
Our compact equipment expertly integrated MSA Fibretek into the surface—using virgin, fully synthetic, dry fibres with optimal 40mm chop length for lasting structure. Final grooming left the arena stable, responsive, and ready for handover.

Arena Transformation
This 35 x 45m arena received full MSA refurbishment, including new fencing, a fresh drainage layer, and our high-performance MSA Fibremix surface—restoring it to near-new condition with improved ride quality.

Indoor Fibre-Wax Upgrade
To resolve poor footing and regain livery interest, we replaced the deep, uneven surface with our premium indoor Fibre-waxed blend. The new footing brought instant rider satisfaction and boosted client occupancy.

Kickboard Fence & Fibre Blend
We revitalised a worn-out arena with new oblique kickboard fencing and mechanically blended MSA Fibretek into the sand, creating a firm, low-maintenance riding surface within just 12 days.

Full Surface Replacement
The old surface was removed and replaced with MSA Fibre-wax—perfectly suited for Polo Cross. The client also received training support, making the facility ready for intensive use.

Refreshed Arena
This tired arena was brought back to life with a new fence, installed mirrors, and a full surface regeneration—delivering a refreshed, inviting, and functional riding space.

Full Surface Renewal
We removed the old sand and membrane before installing a new geotextile layer and fresh sand. MSA Fibretek was then incorporated throughout, creating a bright, high-performance surface ready for long-term use.

Fibremix & Lunge Pen
This 60m x 30m arena was saved just in time—new Equisand and MSA Fibretek were added to restore depth and stability. We also built a dedicated 18m Fibre-wax lunge pen to protect the main surface.

Client Testimonials
“I just wanted to write and thank you for your very courteous and professional consultation. It is a matter of considerable regret that we are not in a position to proceed with the improvements at present, but we were very impressed by your expertise and honest assessment. Thank you for your time and for your advice.”
“The school is amazing and riding really well. Liam is over the moon with it and his dressage horse has come on in leaps and bounds through having a proper surface to ride on. He is now competing at medium level. We haven’t jumped on it yet but hopefully will soon (planning to paint the jumps over Christmas). The horses have settled in really well and seem far more relaxed here than in their last place. Thank you for providing us with such a brilliant school.”
“Demolition of commercial dog kennels, replaced with new Stables and Yard, new adjoining Arena. Again, thank you for a great job. It was a pleasure working with someone that is fair and straightforward.”
“If anyone would like to come and see our arena it is riding really well and I would be happy to show anyone the excellent results of your work. It has made a huge difference to our lives, especially after such a shocking winter.”
“the arena exceeded our expectations and there was not one puddle or even damp bit of the ménage throughout the whole of the 2013/2014 winter!! Looking at the fields around it gave us some idea of what it was coping with.”
“Our school is fantastic and so I would like to say a huge thank you. After one of the wettest winters and not a drop of water on our surface I will certainly be recommending Mark Scott Arenas. Thank you for all the hard work.”
“I just wanted to thank you very much for your idea re turning the area of rubble into a hard standing area. I had not appreciated quite how bad the paddocks would get here and it has been a real godsend in that it has enabled us to give the horses some turn out over the winter months. It has held out well considering the use it’s had. I also love the muck heap and the local farmer was very impressed with the set up in that it is easy for him to access and bring the trailer close up to.”
“I just wanted to let you know that despite the horrible wet winter the arena has held up really well. The hard standing next to it has had water pooled on it and a ‘river’ running across it with water draining from my neighbour’s field, but the school has been absolutely fine. This despite the heavy clay that it is sitting on. Nor did it freeze during the cold weather over the past few days. A happy customer!”
